You Are Responsible For Your Life
“A sign of wisdom and maturity is when you come to terms with the realization that your decisions cause your rewards and consequences. You are responsible for your life, and your ultimate success depends on the choices you make.”
Denis Waitley
To succeed in life you have to run your own race. You are in charge so you must be accountable. In life you are not competing with anyone except yourself. Success is not about being better than others but achieving your own goals.
Do not blame others for your failure in life because to succeed or fail in life is a personal choice. Accept responsibility for how you respond to things that show up in your life. This is challenging for many, because most people tend to blame themselves and blame others. Accepting responsibility for your life is not to blame you or make you feel guilty. Being responsible starts with the willingness to deal with a situation from the view of life that you are the generator of what you do, what you have, and what you are.
“Disciplining yourself to do what you know is right and important, although difficult, is the high road to pride, self-esteem and personal satisfaction.”
Brian Tracy
Cultivate awareness of your responsibility, the level of your achievements, the results you produce, the quality of your relationships, the state of your health and physical fitness, your income, your debts, your feelings, everything! The opposite of taking responsibility is complaining, condemning and blaming others, it is you playing the victim.
Everything you experience today is the result of the choices you made in the past, if you keep on doing what you’ve always done, you’ll keep on getting what you’ve always got. If you want something different, you are going to have to do something different! To be more successful, all you have to do is act in ways that produce more of what you want. You’re responsible for the design of your own life and it impacts the design of all the lives you touch. Are you happy with how you’ve designed it so far?
If you are not happy, don’t loose heart, you have the power to deal with what isn’t working for you right now. No matter the situation, you have the power to change it. Consciously or unconsciously we bring things, people, and experiences into our lives with our thought pattern that is why we must take responsibility. When you don’t take responsibility for your life you give away your personal power.
“The willingness to accept responsibility for one’s own life is the source from which self-respect springs.” Joan Didion.
