I design my pots with African kente or Ashoke fabrics. If you have pieces of other fabrics at home, you can also use it to cover your pots and add a unique touch to it. To achieve this all you need is your fabric, glue, Terra Cotta Pot and a scissors to cut the fabric into the desired shape you want. You might also need a pencil to draw on the fabric and carve your design out. Here are the steps to take

1. Brush glue on the portion where you want to place your fabric.

2. Adhere Ashoke or whatever fabric you have.

3. Allow your pots to dry completely before you use them.

Secondly, you can transform your pots using buttons, sea shells, jewelries, old currencies and also use ceramics tube paint to create intricate little designs to give your plain terracotta pot a new life. First lay out your sea shells or buttons in the desired pattern. This is the fun part; there is no right or wrong way to do it. After you have decided on your look, glue them onto the pot. Make sure to glue in sections so your sea shells don’t slide. Then create the intricate designs on your pots.

Thirdly, do you have nail polish sitting around in your dressing table? Another way you can transform your plain terracotta pots is using nail polish to transform them into a marble look. Here are the steps to take

Step 1: Half fill your bucket with water.

Step 2: Pour in your nail polish, letting it spread across the top of the water. Give it a little mix or shake to blend the colors.

Step 3: Dip your pot in the water, leaving the ridge free.

Remove it immediately and you will see the amazing design! Don’t worry about any small clumps at the bottom you can wipe them off while it dries.

Step 4: Leave to dry for 1-2 hours.

Fourthly, another way to decorate your terra cotta pot is to glitter it up. Here are the steps

You will need: small terra cotta pot, 1 bottle of glitter, 1 paint brush, mod podge,

Brush mod podge all over your pot. Cover with glitter and let it dry and you will have your glittered flower pot. Insert your plant…all done! Hope you have fun decorating your plain terra cotta pots!
